We have 10 more members in our big family! Actafarma’s family continues to grow day by day after sponsoring 10 children from the region of Louga, Senegal, a country where more than half of the population lives below the poverty line, a situation that is accentuated in rural areas.
This sponsorship activity has been possible thanks to the invaluable work of Plan, an association comprising a network of independent, not-for-profit organisations, whose main objective is to provide a better life for the children in over 50 developing countries. Its 9,000 active projects directly help 86 million girls and boys, who have their basic needs for food, health, education and housing covered, while their protection and the respect for their rights is ensured.
Following in the footsteps of our unconditional support for the Vicente Ferrer, Isabel Gemio and Antena 3 foundations, Laboratorios Actafarma did not want to pass up the opportunity to contribute to this goal and on a day like today, where the World Day against Child Labour is being celebrated. This is why we want get involved directly, supporting families, assisting in the implementation of development and self-sufficiency programmes that give lasting benefits to their community, as this is – as pointed out by Plan España – the only way that children can develop their potential in societies where human rights and people’s dignity are respected. These values coincide with one of the fundamental principles of Laboratorios Actafarma: “Care for those who need to be taken care of”.
